Many marketers are using online platforms for promoting their brand or business and in this race, they are using different online channels without following the norms for duplicacy, low-quality link building, etc. The Google update is the phenomenon that always shares information regarding changes that affect rankings and website performance calculated by a search engine, Google. These updates come frequently and tell what is good or bad in terms of online promotion activities. Some updates are major updates while others are filters of data refresh on which an algorithm runs. The motto of these updates is to improve the relevance and quality of the search results and focus on white hat techniques that follow Google norms and guidelines.

Google Panda Update:
The purpose of the Google Panda update was to check and reward quality websites and reduce the presence of poor-quality websites in Google’s organic search engine results. The initial release date for this Update is 23rd February 2011. There are total 28 data updates to Panda between 2011 and 2015.
Google Penguin Update:
The perseverance of the Google Penguin update was to check and reward quality websites and reduce the presence of poor-quality websites in Google’s organic search engine results that engaged in manipulative link schemes and keyword stuffing. The initial release date for this Update is 24th April 2012. There are total 10 documented updates between 2012 and 2016.
It is Google core algorithm announced on 26th September 2013. This update is regarding the sophisticated understanding of the intending to searchers’ queries with the objective of matching them to more significant results.
Google Exact Match Domain Update
This is a filter update from Google announced in September 2012. The sole purpose of this algorithm is to prevent poor-quality sites from ranking well simply because they had words that match search terms in their domain names.
Google mobile-friendly Update
This mobile-friendly ranking algorithm is released by Google on 21st April 2015. This update is also known by names of mobilegeddon, mobilepocalyse, apocalypse, or apocalypse. It is designed to give a lift to mobile-friendly pages in Google’s mobile search results.
Google Pigeon Update
The release date for this update is 20th August 2013. This update had shaken up Google’s local and local organic results at that time. This Google local search algorithm improves ranking factors based on distance and location.
Google Payday Update
Payday Update algorithm was launched on June 11, 2013, directed at cleaning up search results for habitually “spammy queries” such as pornographic, payday loan, and other heavily spammed queries.
Google Pirate Update
This update was released in August 2012 intended to prevent sites with many copyright violation reports, as filed through Google’s DMCA system, from ranking well in Google’s listings.
Google Top Heavy Update
Google’s top heavy update was released in the Month of January 2012. This update prevents sites that were “top-heavy” with ads from ranking well in their listings.
